Needed to cover the yard for erosion control and weed control purposes -- for a city inspection on Monday. Got the wood chips for free because ...

Mom hired an arborist and tree specialist to put a cross-tie on the incense cedar in the back yard. The cedar has a split trunk and has grown so much that in a bad storm one of the two trunks could let go, split the tree at the base, and crash into either the neighbor's house, the ADU, or Mom's house.

It's kind of a big incense cedar and needed to be stabilized. So they worked on it. And brought in wood chips for free.

I asked for 4 cubic yards -- more than enough to cover the entire yard at a depth of an inch or two. We got at least 8 and probably 9 cubic yards, so now I'm spreading it everywhere I can think of.

The cats might even get special litter for a while.
