As a brief overview, though, what is different now compared to 10 years ago includes ...
-- the sheer number of people affected is much, much higher;
-- 10 years ago, children were separated from parents who had pre-existing criminal histories (to protect children from a risk of harm); now, though, arriving at the border without proper documentation is itself considered a crime;
-- there were no concentration camps 10 years ago
