In response to "Hey, what makes NY (US) pizza so good is the water, right? Can't Amsterdam have water just as good? -- (edited)" by Harry Tuttle

I've read it's not the water but the recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation or business to business. Just good pizza making

skills and a good recipe for both the sauce and the crust.

I don't think NYC is the only place to get good pizza but I don't think you can get good pizza from a chain. They don't use top of the line ingredients as it would cost them too much. A pie here isn't cheap because the ingredients aren't cheap.
