I understand the desire to see the world, totally. I think you should definitely do it. I just think your budget might be a bit out of whack.

When I went to Europe in 2001 for 3 months, I had $5000. I got a free flight because a relative worked for Air Canada, so $5000 had to last me 3 months, that's 13 weeks, in 2001.

That's $385 a week.

I travelled through mostly Eastern Europe and stayed in cheap hostels to keep costs down, and I was still 100% dead broke when I came home.

Costs have gone up since 2001.
