I'm not there yet on this particular player since he lied so shamelessly for so long, but I think your logic is 100% sound.

There are people in the Hall of Fame right now who did the same thing. It shouldn't be a dealbreaker for players from that generation. The problem is that this guy was so disingenuous about it and broke important records because he cheated. I struggle more with that.
