It was noted that Smackdown will air 51 weeks a year on FOX, with one episode pre-empted for the World Series. It is possible, however, that it could move to FS1 for that week.
– There will be a one-hour launch show in late September to build to the October 4 debut, which will introduce the WWE and its talent to the FOX Audience
– FOX is in talks with WWE to get NXT onto TV somehow. It’s unknown which of FOX networks that would be on, but FS1 would seem to be the most likely. As of now, however, the only FS1 WWE show being planned is the studio talk show. It’s already been announced and Renee Young is set to be the host.
– FOX wants everyone at the network to promote WWE as a legitimate sport. Not in the sense that the outcomes are real, but that it is a “choreographed sports presentation” for a Thursday-Sunday sports block in the fall with NFL on Thursdays and Sundays and College Football on Saturdays.
– FOX will also promote the 20th anniversary of Smackdown, and it’s believed the anniversary show will be the debut on October 4. Surprises are being planned for that episode and this was pushed at the meeting.
– FOX is planning a “digital primer” for viewers, where they can get a behind-the-scenes look at WWE and learn things like “inside terms.”
