I can see teams having 2-3 dedicated starters and the rest guys that can do a couple innings each, and eschewing a closer entirely. -- nm

I feel like teams need a minimum of three starters. The load on the pen would be too much if they were being used for whole games 3 out of 5 times. -- (edited)

They have three or four starters right now. They do use it often but let's see a team do it and win in the playoffs.

But what if a team fully committed? Instead of a traditional SP rotation, swap out for rubber armed; what are currently long relief pitchers?

I don't think it can work for long. Guys are in the bullpen for a reason and it's usually because they're either not good enough to start or lack -- (edited)
