I think that leads inevitably to ignoring corporate bad behaviour.

Sure, some companies get more attention than others for their actions or the consequences of their actions - and other corporations do a lot of damage socially and environmentally without getting much blowback from consumers because it happens in a far-off corner of the world.

But if you're going to excuse companies with the argument that "other companies are probably doing even worse stuff", then nothing will change.
