1) Be a current Koodo customer and receive a text offering a 10gb for $14 add-on
2) Via the website, "upgrade" to a new phone on the line that received the text and choose the $25 unlimited talk/text small tab plan that was only offered for maybe like 5 days (21st was the last day iirc)
3) After confirming the transaction, reply to the text to activate the add-on
The only downside for me upfront was that I needed to pay off the remainder of my tab, which was half significant.
But even with the upfront cost, after about 10 months, I'll be saving money compared to the plan I was currently on.
