In response to "Air conditioning calculus. Does it cost more to run the AC at a certain temp all day or let it get hot then cool it down? -- nm" by Mop

A/C is generally less efficient at lower power.

if you're asking if you should turn it on when you're hot and off when you're cool, or just leave it running while you're at home, it's probably pretty similar either way. like the A/C will turn itself off at the target temperature anyway, right? depends on your tolerance for heat, I guess.

If you're asking whether to run the A/C all day, or only when you get home, then only when you get home if more efficient.
