Side pull? Is there a wire on the side or does it pull from a point between the sides? -- nm*

Google indicates linear pull. It's like, I can shove them around and get them equidistant from the rim, but then it wobbles around and undoes that. -- (edited)

I think the problem is probably how they're attached to the frame.

And it seems there are some kind of springs involved in the arms, this could also be the problem.
