I think Hotstar had broadcasting rights to everything, so all lost games hurt their bottom line.

Iger actually mentioned it in his fiscal quarter earnings report. Hotstar alone lost $60 million due to the historic combination of users and the lost revenue from rainouts. He indicated that they'll get some of it back this quarter, but it sounds Hotstar is going to lose Disney a lot of money for a while due to its soaring popularity.
As the guy mentioned in that Moviepass article someone linked yesterday, unicorn losses are somehow better than moderate ones.
