If they have a law that prevents certain speech or incitement, that may be unavoidable, but it does seem that Leg should have immunity as do diplomats -- (edited)

But I imagine diplomats are allowed in country at the discretion of the government. From my limited understanding she wanted to dump on the country and then come visit, potential making the same comments while there. Free speech is important but she's not exactly acting like an ally herself, so why should they put themself out for that kind of treatment? Why would a limitation on political speech have anything to do with her visiting her family? My job can put a restriction on political speech at work for all I care; personal opinion is irrelevant to me going to work and doing my job.
If the *British Ambassador* of all people has to resign over private critique, this can't be that surprising.
In any case I think this was a stupid move by Israel that will hurt the alliance in the long run.
