Minor's ERA+ is 174, Verlander is 160. That shouldn't be enough.

I think it boils down to Verlander's absurdly good at minimizing damage. His BABIP is like .215 so the 31 HR's he's allowed haven't hurt him at all.
But that should make Verlander's performance even better in my mind. If the average replacement guy would be at X due to average'd out stats...if a guy is doing far better than that, give him more credit for that.
Sure, he's giving up a ton of solo HR's but there's no credit for the fact he's not permitting anyone on base for those?
