I read that the other day and for a non-sneaker site they got it mostly right. It's more about Stadium Goods but those sneakers are one of the ones -- (edited)

that started the rise in sneaker collecting and prices. People think it was the Jordan's but it wasn't. Nike was and does re-release old Jordan's all the time. If you want a pair of Jordan's from when you were a kid that you couldn't afford you can likely buy them today.

But Nike SB doesn't re-release classic sneakers. If you want those Supreme dunks you'll have to cough up $3k. What's nice is they won't fall apart as easily as a lot of other older sneakers like the Jordan's. They're made differently and don't have foam in the sole which is a major point of failure as the sneakers age.

Nike SB has made some of the most beautiful and insane sneakers of all time but most people don't know about them. They were originally made for skateboarding so non-skaters didn't mess with them much. And when they started to get more popular it was still mostly with skaters and sneakerheads. The general public never really caught on to them for some reason.

I'm going to link to an article about them and a quick look through and you might be able to understand why I love the SB dunk so much.
