Am I nuts for wanting to drive cross-country to my new home? It should take 4-5 days to go from coast to coast.

I was looking forward to it until about 20 minutes ago when I realized that if I leave on Tuesday, I will still be on the road when Labor Day hits. Am I going to have an issue finding hotel rooms starting on Friday?

Stop at the small towns. Should be any number of roadside motels. My favorites are pretty much too close except maybe the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook.

I road tripped down the Pacific Coast Highway Labor Day week 6 or 7 years ago, had no problem finding hotels with open rooms except 1 night.
