I recall a documentary about Napoleon talking about how he lost a battle but came back to France and just told everyone he'd won it.

I can't recall the specifics but that keeps coming up in my mind over and over. Trump will flat out lie about succeeding when he's failed because his fans will eat it up no questions asked.
