If we are being honest, these are moves that needed to be made. Atlanta's pitching is plenty good enough to win this year. We're deep and we've got some guys who can be dominant. The outfield is one of the worst I've ever seen and I'm able to quantify that statistically by saying our best OPS of the three starters was 0.618 at one point the other day.
If we're broke -- and I've believed for a while that we were -- Glavine as a bottom of the rotation starter helps so much less than a stud like MacLouth. If we felt Schafer was in over his head and Gorkys Hernandez wasn't quite ready, we had to do this...but it's burned a bridge with Glavine. This is ruthless, a Bill Belichick move, if you will.
