I'm almost always on Pops side of things but I don't think it's wrong to expect the USA basketball team to place better than 7th in a tournament.

Other countries have some very good and even great players. They can definitely compete with us but we shouldn't finish 7th in any tournament. Not ever.
Our guys should be in the top three every tournament. I do expect them to win as well and would be disappointed otherwise but that's to be expected when I know we have the best players in the world. Sadly, they don't want to play for USA basketball like they used to. I don't know why and I'm not going to speculate but we'll have a tough time winning if we're sending bench guys to compete internationally.
