Meningitis is a scary unknown. If she acts forgetful, or is even belligerent/angry, be patient and gentle. Ask her if you can hold her hand, and do it as often as you can or she’ll let you. The physical contact is reassuring, brain trauma from such an experience can disrupt memory, so having immediate physically repeated, safe experiences can be incredibly uplifting and comforting.
Keep telling her you love her, and you favorite recent memory of what she’s done, said, experienced. Express faith in the caregivers who are helping her, even though much of the work the so will be invasive or feel intrusive. Thank even nurse, phlebotomist, or Doctor you see.
Good luck to you both.
