I figured it's a translation to latin alphabet thing, and it is - he has yy on his passport but used y when he was acting (does st know about that - i.e. that his most prominent role was playing an anti-corruption president of the ukraine, and that led to him being elected for the real deal?) but yy while in his official role.
"Zelensky's name doesn't have an established Latin-alphabet spelling, and it has been romanized in various ways: for example Volodymyr Zelenskyi or Zelenskyy from Ukrainian, or Vladimir Zelenskiy from Russian. Zelenskyy is the spelling in his passport and his administration uses it since May 2019, but his spokesperson -Iuliia Mendel - doesn't object to other spellings"
