The best description I've seen of Borderlands 3...

I'm paraphrasing, but someone said that it's like when you see someone from high school for the first time in many years. Your first thought is, "Wow, you haven't changed a bit!" After a while, you kind of sadly realize, "Wow, you haven't changed *a bit*!"
The story is overly long, and the Typhon Deleon storyline is seventeen kinds of insipid. The game also has huge balancing issues. I'll beat some bosses in 10 seconds. Others can take multiple tries and 45 frustrating minutes. It all depends on luck of the draw with weapon drops.
I've had several crit locks, some of them during boss fights. And I've just randomly lost two weapons. I had a *badass* Stranger Things gun that vanished, and then a mission reward one wrecked everything. I unequiped it to use the gun-gun, and it was just lost to the ether.
I've very much enjoyed other parts of the game and am glad I bought it. Overall, I totally see both sides of the late it/really disappointed debate.
