FWIW, a few weeks ago Joe Posnanski had a great blog post about 300 game winners.

He points out that you can't look at young pitchers to guess who'll be a 300 game winner. Young pitchers who win a lot of games while young tend to get too much wear on their arms and break down. To win 300s, you have to be great in your 30s, and there just is no way to guess that.
