every therefore interprets it.
did they want a nation free of tyranny of only one religion? yes, I would say that is probably true.
did they want people to be able to freely choose their religion? again, yes.
Did they want the government to be run by a religion? no. I think they made that pretty clear.
The problem isnt that we are or are not a Christian nation. The problem is that people see to think we have to be a _____________ (insert religion space) nation.
Do I have a problem with people only voting based on their religious views. No.
I would have a problem if our Gorvenment started to enact laws only based on a certain religions views. Then we would start to act a lot more like some of the countries that so many americans see as only bad because of their religious controlled governments (afghanistan before we attacked, etc).
But then, I am one to think that when the bible says to preach to others, that doesnt mean you have to make laws to force your beliefs on them. It means you quitely, but powerfully, preach. You dont shout at them, you dont call them name, picket them, stone them, harrass them. You treat them as you want to be treated, you honor their choices, and you friend them. And over time, they will accept faith.
Preaching/using faith like a gun will never work, it will cause a just a violent reaction from the other side.
Preaching/using faith as a friendship, developed over years/decades is the only way to bring enlightenment.
and I say that about all faiths.
