Proof positive that CBS's resistance to a Viacom merger - thus delaying the inevitable - is going to hurt the new entity long term.

In a reasonable world, this would have been a linchpin for the new merged CBS/Viacom streaming service (presumably an extension of CBS All Access). Instead, it's getting sold off with, presumably, a chunk of the royalties going to NOT CBS/Viacom.
FWIW, had it gone to CBS All Access, it probably wouldn't have sold for $500mil and Matt/Trey would have gotten burned.
