You mean if you don't do what your boss tells you to do there could be consequences???

Still true in the scenario you describe.
I mean you're free to look for other employment if you don't like the direction the boss decides to go in, but a lot of what I've seen describes outright insubordination. And kind of juvenile behavior to boot.
