I booked through Airbnb because that's what adventurous people who want to explore a city are supposed to do. I've never booked through Airbnb before, so I'm a little apprehensive.
I found a nice place and booked it. The host is a Superhost, so I'm not worried about booking with him.
A couple of days ago I got an automated email from Airbnb saying that the host had cancelled, and other emails saying that I had been refunded the $ for the booking.
I then get another message from the host saying it was a system error, and he was working with Airbnb to fix it. I reply saying 'OK, I'll hold off for now, let me know when things are fixed'
I also message Airbnb to advise of the issue and to ask if this is a real thing. No response from them.
Today, I get a message from the host asking me to rebook, but with a different Airbnb host account, which he says belongs to his brother. His host account is going to close.
This is too many changes for me, so I have noped out, and made another booking through Airbnb (but funnily enough for a hotel room)
And looking at Airbnb, the apartment is advertised for my dates, but at a higher price.
Validation/etiquette questions - I'm completely correct to look after myself and book somewhere else, right?
And should I message the host to say "I've made other plans, no hard feelings" just in case he had a legit problem, or should I just ghost him completely?
