Have a question for the ST lawyer types. Gotta head out, but I'm curious to see responses.

So, some friends of ours...their daughter was in a really bad accident a while back (in June). Like - 1 person died bad.

She was driving, no license, no insurance - but allegedly, she was the only one not drinking. I say allegedly, because I don't necessarily believe it, but it's the story.

Anyway - the girl is 17 years old. No charges are pending at this time, though I assume they're coming. Probably waiting on tox screens and all that.

Now - the parents of the boy that died are suing her and the actual owner of the car.

I know this because I've found an article on line about the accident and the lawsuit. In this article, they mention her by name.

My question for the lawyerly types - is it ok for a newspaper (even a tiny town paper) to print the information of a minor in a story like this?

When looking for more info on the wreck, I found the Post-Dispatch's article as well as the NBC affiliate's article. And while they both name the boy who died (he was 20) and the other passengers (all over 20)...neither story mentioned the minor girl who was driving by name.

So, what say you? Is that ok? Legal?

I gotta get home...but I'll check back in a bit. Thanks, kids!
