The elevation of individuality based on entirely subjective and often self-serving feelings already made sensitive by over-bearing parents is unique

that form of ridiculousity is particularly dangerous, in that it prepares us not to be a contributing member of society but to hijack it

I don't see how it is similar in tone, and certainly not similar in consequences (or causing reasons)
