I know I talked about our scholarships, but don't think I mentioned that (after we announced the winners) we discovered the winner of our second award

is the son of an archaeologist that's well known to us. The son has a different last name to his mother so we had no clue. His award was named in memory of a recently deceased life member of our society.

I just received an email from his mother - she was in grad school with the lady for whom the award is named and considered her a special person.

The circle of life takes strange twists some time :)
