a few years ago, i had to spend almost an entire day waiting to be questioned in a courtroom, even though i recognized one of the defendants as

someone i had worked with in the past and about whom i knew a bunch. there was no opportunity to let the judge or anyone else know that until i was actually called to be questioned. i was, of course, immediately dismissed. such a waste of my time. ugh.
they let the pool folks read or use a computer in the waiting area, but nothing except observing once you're in the courtroom awaiting being called.
