General rule: don't order the most expensive item on the menu, don't order the cheapest item on the menu

You're fine because filet mignon is not the most expensive. There are things that are $10 more.
Though do play off of what they order. If they all order $20 things, then have a cheap backup in mind to order (salad maybe?). I doubt you'll need to.

That's my rule too. I'd keep that pork and applesauce joint as a backup, but probably order the steak. -- nm
