we came off the beltway onto a long, curving off-ramp.

about 30 feet ahead of us, i saw a deer along the side of the road. i started slowing down (fortunately through this, there was no one behind or along side us) when i saw him, but i was still going about 40.

i guess he saw us, so he took a leap back into the foliage, but as i was still moving forward, he bounded back into the road, right in front of us.

at that point i braked hard. he leaped twice, the second time landing *on the hood of the car*. he jumped away, crossed the other lane and disappeared into the trees on the other side of the ramp.

i almost got sick from the adrenaline. so glad that i wasn't going faster/was able to brake in time. poor thing was really spooked
