I suppose it's not common knowledge. The Wii is a repurposed GameCube.

When it was showed off at E3 for the first time a few years back, the hardware was actually a GameCube hidden under a cardboard box. They've added a desktop interface and extra RAM, but the processor/graphics are the same, which is why you can play old GC games on a Wii without any kind of emulation.

The processore/graphics aren't identical. The Wii's may be based of the GC's, but they have been improved from the latter. -- nm - Ender Nov 3, 08:57 1

I think I had heard you can use GC controllers on Wii but reusing hardware and those algorithms is normal in most programming -- nm - zork Nov 3, 08:50
