i have a question about credit cards, "rewards points", and transferring balances ...

So, say I have Credit Card A and I have a balance of around 1250 dollars. I can't pay it off all in one payment, and i'm making payments as best as I can and taking a hit on finance charges.

Then I get Credit Card B. there's no outstanding balance on it, and it offers X amount of time at 0% financing when you transfer balances over to it.

If I transfer some or all of the outstanding balance from Credit Card A to CC B, will this earn me rewards points on the 2nd card?

i don't think you get rewards points on transfers, just purchases. otherwise people would just keep transferring balances back and forth constantly. -- nm - Andie Jan 29, 12:34 2
- yeah, i guess that makes sense. transfer a balance, use the rewards points to pay down a little, transfer again, etc. until you use all of the "free - call me Ishmael Jan 29, 12:43 1
