everyone was assumed to be outraged and then she'd drop the..."and this happened to my husband"
"oh my gosh etc etc"

instead of:
"well, maybe he had dirty hair and looked grubby"
"wait, what? it was my husband"
"oh I can't see that, you are so white and lovely, that would never happen"
