I don’t count Kerry as veering left in 2004 as I doubt you would as he ran squarely in the center.
The world is too split to truly have a 49-1 wipeout at this point but giving people two impalpable candidates isn’t going to help the democrats win. This election should be a bloodbath for the Democrats if it wasn’t for Trump. No need to help him by nominating from the fringes.
