Also I'm admittedly obsessed with hotel status perks that realistically I will never use or use so infrequently to make them useless. Chase makes so -- (edited)

much more sense for me than the other cards in that regard. I've decided that I should look more at how much value I can get out of the mid-range cards like the IHG where you get status + a free night for holding it. Basically pays for the card and then if it has additional perks (upgrades, free breakfast, etc) then it is just gravy. IHG is kinda nice for us also because it includes Kimpton which we have some in Chicago that are very cute boutique hotels right by the theaters. My wife and I have stayed there before so I can definitely see using that.
