I had four major credit cards that we used for the majority of our spending. Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Amazon, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and a Citibank card (no rewards).
Chase Amazon Cash back earned: $525
Chase Sapphire Points earned: 72,494
Chase Freedom Unlimited earing: 20,751
Total value of Unlimited Rewards earning: $1,165
Points redeemed in 2019: 94,475 (8 different hotel stays + 1 car rental)
Value redeemed in 2019: $1,181
Assuming similar earnings for 2020, then my upgrade to Chase Reserve will be worth about $233 in increased earnings value.
Additionally, by not using my Freedom card (1.5%) for non-dining/non-travel expenses, I lost out on 26,169 points. Similarly by using Citibank, I missed out on 18,544 points. All told that was probably $559 of additional value between those two cards.
