I disagree. That's in part how we wound up with Trump. That just leaves too much up to chance as to how the field lays out. Here you have more

moderates gaining a majority of the vote, but it's split among several candidates. 33% means a majority don't want this candidate, so are the people really choosing their candidate? Ranked choice voting in the primaries would give clearer results.
