the land and building are owned by the church next door. the church raised their rent almost threefold to try to force them out bc they want to rip the building down and build a six story student apartment building. I said "wouldn't it be better to build workforce housing, you know, as church outreach?" and their finance director said "we just want to make as much money as possible. workforce housing doesn't pay."
