I do and I don't... "non-fiction narrative" style is something that reads better but you have to keep wondering what blanks are being filled in. -- (edited)

Like when I read Devil in the White City it pissed me off when AT THE END of the book, Larson basically had a post-word and said he'd "filled in some blanks" with what H H Holmes did to his victims. While reading I wondered how he had some details, figured there must be journals or something Homes kept. Nope. Just educated guesses.
I don't mind the idea of that, but tell me UP FRONT that's what you're doing.
Now I know with him.
