We should expect a significant uptick in cases in the US due to better testing availability/guidelines
WHO had a deep dive of the cases in China last week (about 50k in numbers) and this has been the most comprehensive study so far. 30-69 year-olds appear to be at the most risk for showing symptoms (that is good news for our student population—they either aren’t getting it or are asymptomatic).
It is likely that in Washington there have been cases there for at least 6 weeks—people weren’t being tested, weren’t seeking treatment. There are estimates that there are several hundred undiagnosed cases there.
4 weeks from now we’ll be talking about community transmission in PA
The best way to avoid is hand washing (for 20 seconds) and social distancing
