I mean, once the candidates are set, there is nothing we can do but decide which we want in the White House next year.

I've said that 2022 will be bad for Dems (if they win POTUS) regardless, that's how it always goes, but I can certainly see it being *worse* for Dems if Bernie is in the White House (I think we'll see part of that hurt in 2020 itself though if Bernie is on the ballot).
Regardless, if the ballot is Bernie vs Trump, it's not even a moment's consideration where that vote should go IMO.
