about this process to date (by a wide margin). Yes, my guy isn't the winner (and Biden was probably something like 8th on my list of choices from the original field), but the party seems to be pretty quickly coalescing around a candidate (and it's not Bernie). An awful convention looks less likely and Biden seems to have done a better job last night getting people out to vote than Bernie. The party may not tear itself apart and make itself weaker going into a fight with Trump.
In the end I think there is a huge longing for less divisiveness that is drawn to him. A guy with more empathy than probably any other candidate out there (that is his greatest strength). Yes, he may not be as progressive as we want and there will still be inevitable struggles with unrepentant republicans, but at least people will sleep at night. I think that's his big draw.
Also, Jim Clyburn gets whatever position he wants. I've never seen an endorsement have so much effect.

I'm not enthused by Biden, but he's competent. If he can learn to push or ignore the GOP while in office, we'll be okay.

The one takeaway from this that should worry hate mongers is that a lot of people seem highly motivated to vote. -- nm
