In response to "I didnt even remember until today that Gabriel was once in Genesis. " by Jovian

yeah, pretty much up to about 1975 ... -- (edited)

he was totally into the theatrics of things and the performance, whereas most of the rest of the band was into the music for music's sake. Gabriel-era Genesis was definitely prog-rock. like, out in centerfield prog-rock. being a Genesis fan, I actually like some of the older stuff. there really are some beautifully crafted songs in all of it. total team effort with multiple talented musicians ...

1976 was the 1st album post-Galbriel. WInd & Wuthering. I highly recommend it. still some of the old-school genesis sound to it but not crazy performative on-stage stuff. man, I wish steve Hackett had stayed with the group. such a talented musician and music-writer. his talent really shines on W&W …

anyway … Hackett soon departed, and it led to ",,,And then there were 3" … with just Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks (another talented music writer who doesn't always get the credit he deserves and should have had greater solo success in his own right between Genesis albums when the other guys were doing their solo thing), and, of course, Phil Collins …

sorry … I can talk a while when it comes to that band... :)
