some of the HD channels (ABC?) broadcast in 720p anyway. you likely wouldn't really notice that much difference

if at all. and cable/satellite companies compress the signals so you aren't getting all the 1080 information anyway
you should look into some sort of antenna because there's a good chance you can bring in free OTA (over the air) channels in HD. in fact, those signals are not compressed and should be the sharpest signals
