K: Hi. So I didn't make it to Boston. Here's the (complicated) situation. Which would be so much better a conversation in person.
(Spoiler: I'm not married or anything like that!)
T: Go ahead.
K: I was going to Boston to go to MGH for a (regular) appointment with my rheumatologist; I have an autoimmune condition that is probably lupus.
And it is generally well controlled...but by immunosuppressives. So for right now I'm in isolation, only seeing a very few people.
And someone who works in a pharmacy probably shouldn't be among them right now (:/ emoji)
T: Oh, true.
K: I did a phone appointment with the doctor instead of in person and thought that's what he thought at least...and makes sense to me. He didn't think he'd be giving me dating advice.
So that's a bummer and I'm really sorry.
T: I understand, really.
K: I'm happy to text or FaceTime or whatever, to see how things play out in a few months, or to chalk this up to a nice meeting with terrible timing.
T: I would absolutely like to keep in contact as I definitely felt like there might be a connection. At the same time I'd like to keep my options open in dating (such as they are). But should there be an opportunity down the line, I'd like to give it a chance.
K: Okay, let's keep texting with no expectations on either end!!! I really appreciate your honesty and understanding. But you keep putting yourself out there in the meantime!
T: (happy face emoji)
I totally understand you're busy with work and other stuff. I had totally assumed I'd been ghosted initially, I have to admit, because it wouldn't have been the first time.
K: No no not at all. I'm not a ghoster; I'm just a terrible texter, even in the best of times!!!
T: And thank you for your honesty, I wanted to know if this was something I should put more effort into pursuing, because you're great.
K: And this week has been non stop, I think I sent over 100 emails yesterday, 98 related to covid.
T: Yeesh.
K: Aw thanks. You're pretty special.
