SO, I defintely never trust their numbers. That being said, they used the strongest methods, and that is the expected result of that. -- (edited)

Once the rate starts going down, then it will not explode again, that's how it works. There will be localized flares that can be contained.
Think of it as using a controlled burn to contrl wildfires. You reduce the amount of fuel, and then it won't be possible for a raging inferno later.
