Sweet. I'm about 8 hours of playtime in on a permadeath game trying to do the same. I'm still getting a base set up. Just got my scientist hired.

Found a nice planet that doesn't try to kill me to live on. Currently working on getting the tech to build some solar panels to keep it all powered. I'm way up on a mountainside that has a great view of the ringed planet in the system on the horizon :)
